only wanted to sleep in the shade |

After that minor hiccup the rest went fairly smoothly, we flew
into Sydney with a night
stop to catch our breath the next day on to Cairns for 6 days then a long flight to Perth for 3 days via Ulura (Ayers Rock), fly
back to Brisbane to collect a hire car for 7 days to visit friends at Miles in the outback,
back to Brisbane to catch the flight to Auckland
New Zealand for a week touring North Island in a rented
Motorhome, flying back to Sydney and another hire car to take us up to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains for 6 days we then
went back via Canberra to Sydney for a week. It was all too soon that we were flying home via
Singapore from the lovely, dry heat of Australia to the cold wet of home. |

Down-under or bust After months of planning we finally made it. Since arriving home from my tour of Australia last year I started to
encourage Maco (the Boss) that She really would love touring out there as it
is such a beautiful country with so much to see and do. After six month of me
enthusiastically talking about my trip She decided that as it would be our
40th wedding anniversary that September (is
it really 40 years? how time flies) we would make the trip down-under as a
present to ourselves. So the planning began, the maximum time Maco could have off work was
only six weeks so we had to plan carefully to fit in as much as possible in
that time, we decided on September/October as it is Spring time with all the
flowers and blossom coming out also it wouldn't be too hot to travel, With
Marco’s help the direct flights to and from were booked and paid for early,
so now it was all go with no turning back, Now the only problem was how to fit in all that we wanted to see, So
we decided to fly between the major areas and hire cars to get about,
stopping over night at Hostels run by the YHA, The YHA hostels in Australia are run like hotels only cheaper and much
more friendly, See
Below Maco then decided
that if we where to fly that far She wanted to see part of New Zealand as
well, So (bar humbug ect) all the plans had to be re-scheduled to include a week in NZ, |
